Teens Words of Wisdom

At Gregg & Cath Photographers, we have always believed that a camera is more than a tool for mapping the landscape of the soul, it is a bridge to the human connection. We want to share the heartbeat behind our work , our deep-rooted partnership and United in Passion with Aperture Of Hope. Our bond is built on a single, powerful conviction: genuine connection SAVE LIVES. In a world that often feels digitally saturated but emotionally distant, we are dedicated to being a steady, soulful presence for the teens in our community. In addition to our professional artistic craft of photography, we foster a holistic, healthy lifestyle rooted in the healing power of "Mother Nature’s therapy" and the wonder of our majestic surroundings along with sharing our life experiences in stories.
Our Story:
April 2020, the world dimmed a little when our beloved Emily Irene, a radiant daughter and sister, received her angelic wings far too soon. Gregg, Cath, AJ, and Ashley stood together in a haze of disbelief, grappling with a profound grief that felt as if time had paused. The initial shock of losing Emily sliced through us, leaving a gaping hole in our hearts. Emily's bright spirit was tragically silenced when she unknowingly ingested what she believed to be a Percocet. This simple act turned into a harrowing nightmare, as the pill was a counterfeit containing fentanyl. In an instant, it took away the life of a beautiful soul and left us with memories tinged with sorrow. Now, she watches over us, wrapped in the grace of angel wings, a constant reminder of her laughter and love. We feel a profound responsibility to share Emily's story in the wake of this loss. We must be vigilant and raise awareness about the devastating dangers of counterfeit drugs. While we cannot bring Emily back, we can fight to ensure that no other family has to experience the pain of losing a loved one in such a senseless way. Let us stand strong, united in our mission to educate others, and honor Emily's memory by promoting safety and awareness in our communities. We strive to illuminate the path for future generations, empowering them to navigate a world often overshadowed by the dangers of fentanyl and the distractions of social media. Our mission is to spread vital awareness about the perils of counterfeit substances and social media while encouraging youth to discover their true purpose. We inspire young individuals to disconnect from the noise of electronic devices and social media, fostering genuine connections with themselves and others. These connections are not just about building a sense of community but also about combating the isolation that can lead to drug misuse. By nurturing their unique gifts and passions, we aim to cultivate a brighter, healthier future where every young person can thrive and contribute positively to their communities. Together, let's transform awareness into action and hope into heartfelt connections.
Our Mission:
Built From the Ground Up: We Listen First. Every initiative we champion from the initial spark to its final execution was born from actively listening to our youth. By spending time in their world, we learned that they do not want "programs" imposed on them; they want a supportive environment that honors their authentic needs and their longing for real-world connection.
How We Serve: Our Community Pillars
1. Breaking the Silence: Public Speaking & Awareness
The fentanyl and opioid crisis and the overuse of digital devices is a reality we refuse to ignore. We engage in honest, raw conversations with schools, parents, and first responders about the dangers of accidental poisoning from fake pills and the reality of the illicit market. Impact: We reach approximately 700 youth annually in addition to adults in rural Colorado communities. The Result: By stripping away the stigma and providing immediate awareness of risks and overdose prevention, we are quite literally saving lives through education.
2. In-School & Community Programs: Creativity is a lifeline.
We offer public and homeschool teens a space to explore holistic coping mechanisms and substance use and social media prevention through community-focused outlets. The Focus: Moving away from negative habits and toward peer support and healthy expression. The Result: Helping a significant number of youth per year build stronger community bonds and develop the resilience needed to navigate life's challenges.
3. Resource & Empowerment: "Scroll Out and Connect"
Our mission culminates in empowerment. Through our Empowered Voices initiative, teens find purpose in art, music, podcasts, and community service. We encourage them to "Scroll Out" of the digital world and "Connect" with the real one.The Focus: Fostering sustainable peer support groups and providing essential life skills. The Result: Giving teens a sense of purpose through serving others, ensuring they know they are seen, heard, and valued.
4. Awareness Photography Workshop Adventures: Art of Receiving Images
"The process of Photography fully immerses us in an energized focus. It creates an awareness by observing our surroundings and draws us into a peaceful meditative state. We begin to see the little things and how they may relate to our lives which can provide a creative healthy outlet in our journey of healing. It’s mindfulness, a tool on how we interpret the world around us. Photography is a way of choice as to what you wish to focus, compose and what you choose to leave out of the frame...a way of healing!" Link to workshops

"Emily Irene": Listen to the music.
Imagine a world where everyone is wild, peaceful, and free—where everyone's existence is significant. This is the essence of "Emily Irene," a song that transcends boundaries. It is a hymn of hope and the world's beauty, a melody that celebrates our natural world and invigorates our souls with life. We are thrilled to release "Emily Irene." This song is a testament to the collaborative spirit of Emily and Cath Adams, and the musical genius of James Freeborn. Emily, at the tender age of 8, penned the Chorus, and after her passing at 21, her mother, Cath, beautifully crafted the lyrics. James Freeborn's musical talent brought the song to life. This song is not just a composition, it's a piece of Emily's life. It's a reflection of how she lived, loved, and saw the world.
